Tackling Sri Lanka’s textile waste
mountains
We believe that social and environmental issues go hand in hand, we find
innovative design solutions which are sustainable and conscious to the
people, planet and our eco systems. We practice the principals of Reusing,
Re-purposing and Reclaiming to produce beautiful and functional products.
Sri Lanka’s textile industry produces over 30.000 tones of waste annually with over 300 factories operating in the garment industry. AMESH secondary textiles are sourced as pre-consumer textiles waste materials collected locally. Each item is produced with up-cycled, dead-stock, end roll materials & trims salvaged from Sri Lanka’s textile markets discarded as waste materials destined to landfills. These are treated by reconditioning, reprinting & embellishment techniques hence giving a second life.

Responsible production
AMESH is on a continues journey exploring new ways of sourcing, making
and crafting. “Resourcefulness” being the key focus, traditional artisan craft
techniques are refined with finer details, energetic colour and home making is
celebrated. Studio leftover materials are re-woven to create new textures and
patterns.
